For a few days, I was debating back and forth if I wanted to apply for a credit card or not. The stories that I had heard of people getting into debt made me think that credit cards we’re the devil. And that getting into debt was the last thing I needed.
Why I wanted to get a credit card
My main reason for wanting to get a credit card was to establish good credit. I mean since I had never had one in my entire life, I figured it was time to stop being so scared. And take this leap of faith into adulthood. Because i knew one day, I wanted to buy my own house or car.
But after doing my research and talking with my best friend, I realized getting a credit card was not as scary as I thought. I mean as long as paid the minimum amount every month or paid it off every month, I should be okay. So once I got together the basis of having one, it was time to choose one that was great for beginners.
Deciding On A Card
After looking at the different ones like Chase Freedom, Discover It, and more I chose to go with Capital One. Specifically, the Capital One Platinum Mastercard.
After signing up online and getting approved pretty quickly, my card was shipped out to my address.
And about 5 to 7 business days later I had my beautiful Capital One card. Along with the Capital One app that I downloaded on my Samsung Galaxy S9 phone, I am now able to keep track of my purchases. As well as when my bill is due, so I always know when it is time to pay the bill. Also, what makes this card great for beginners is the fact, there is no annual fee.
I am excited about my next chapter in adulthood. So if you are looking to build credit like me, find a card withthin your spending means. As well as do your research before you make any final decisions and be responsible for all of your spending. Click here to read more lifestyle posts.
