Healthy eating habits can sometimes be hard to stick to if you are not honest with yourself. Which for me has been a struggle because I love food and which I could eat everything I wanted. But unfortunately, in the past few weeks, I have been eating everything not nailed down.
Almost as if all of my old food cravings and habits were coming back to haunt me. But finally, I have woken up and realized that I need to get back on the right track. So since then, I have been exercising more and just being more conscious of what I am eating. As well as incorporating a variety of different foods I have never tried before. So if you all are interested, then definitely continue to read along!
1. Healthy & Delicious Green Smoothies
As someone who barely likes to cook breakfast in the morning, I find that making smoothies is a timesaver. As I mentioned before in my post about using avocados in my smoothies I love how creamy and smooth my smoothies come out. But recently, I have enjoyed adding spinach, celery and apple cider vinegar which has turned out absolutely delicious. As well as my kale, and a variety of berries that include strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries.s. So if you are like me and you don’t like making breakfast in the morning or you want a quick healthy lunch, then try a green smoothie and put your own spin on it!
Quinoa, which is a plant-based food has numerous benefits for your body. Not only is it gluten-free, but it’s high in protein and contains sufficient amounts of amino acids and other great vitamins that include iron, magnesium, and more. So for me, I love using quinoa in my salads, burgers, and even when I make black beans.
So instead of having black beans with white rice, I either have quinoa with the beans or add it in if I’m using brown rice.
3. Cauliflower macaroni and cheese
Since I love macaroni and cheese so much, I was a bit skeptical about making this dish. But I must admit, after making it, I fell in love with it. So if you love macaroni and cheese as much as I do, but you want a healthier alternative from time to time, then try cauliflower mac and cheese.
Not only is this option keto friendly, but you can still get the same satisfaction as if you were using pasta instead of cauliflower. Also, another tip that I do when it comes to making this dish, instead of using heavy cream for the cheese sauce, use almond or soy milk instead. It’s not only lower in fat but also lower in calories.
4. Turkey Meat
When it comes to turkey meat, I love making turkey tacos. Not only is ground turkey meat leaner, but it is also a very good source of protein. So if you have never had turkey meat before, give it a try, and most importantly remember to season it, because if you do not, it will come out bland.
