When I wrote this poem a couple of years back, I never thought it would have such a profound impact. The words in this poem reflect how little of us may value self-worth. Because to be honest, a lot of us care too much about other people opinions. Some of us get so caught up with what he or she said, that we lose ourselves in the process. Yet despite that, you have to understand that even though everyone is entitled to an opinion, it does not mean that it should affect you.
How you may choose to lose your life should be based on your own terms. It should not be focused on if other people like you or not. Because the truth is, some people could be secretly jealous or envious of you. Especially if they can not give you a real reason for why they may not like you.
Now don’t get me wrong, I understand that living in today’s society can be hard. Especially for a young person when you want to fit in. A lot of the things that you see on tv is unrealistic. The idea of having a perfect body or perfect look is not for everybody. Because no one is perfect and we all have flaws. The truth is, true happiness comes from within. If you know your’e worth, and who you are as an individual then do not let anyone else tell you otherwise. Because at the end of the day, you must love yourself first before anyone else can love you. So remember to always know your’e worth and love yourself no matter what.
Even if you have people say negative things about you, just brush if off and keep on living. Because as the saying goes “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.”
