my weight loss journey
Weight loss is a journey that many of us go through on a daily basis. Whether it’s for health reasons, or to get into shape being healthy is great for the body. Because as we all know the older we get, the more our body starts to change. So for the past few months, I have been on my weight loss journey. Throughout this weight loss journey, I have learned a lot of things. Between eating fat burning foods, or learning to love exercising, I am super proud of myself. With all of the skills I have learned, I have managed to drop my first 18lbs.

So for this post, I wanted to share with you all my tips and motivation that have helped me along the way. Now before I get started, let me say that I am not a licensed nutritionist, or an expert when it comes to health. But I hope by reading my post that some of you all out there will be motivated to get healthy or stay focused throughout your journey.
Tip 1: Being Honest With Yourself

I can not say it enough but being honest with yourself is a beneficial factor in staying motivated. I say this because if you are in denial about why you are gaining weight, then how can you fix it. So I would suggest that if you want to be accountable for what you are eating, then write down everything in a journal. Or what some people like to call a food diary. This way you will know what you are eating, and you can no longer be in denial.
Tip 2: Drinking More Water

Now when it comes to water, I know that not everyone is a fan of drinking water. Whether it’s because it has no flavor or people prefer flavored beverages, water has taken a backseat for some people. So I would suggest that if you don’t like the taste of water, you can always infuse it with fruits or vegetables. Or use one of those flavored packets like Crystal Light which are great for adding a little sweetness to your water. Either way, try to squeeze more water into your life because it is great for weight loss and your overall health.
Tip 3: It's A Lifestyle Change Not a Diet

Losing weight is not always about being on a regimented diet. Sometimes it is okay to have a cheat day. I mean I’m not saying that you can have burgers and fries every day and expect not to gain any weight. But what I’m saying is that it’s better to do things in moderation. Have an equal balance between eating healthy foods and the things that you like that are unhealthy. Most importantly don’t feel bad if you have a burger one day. Just know that it is only one burger, and it is not the end of the world.
Tip 4: Finding An Exercise Routine You Enjoy

Exercise for some people is almost like a death sentence or a chore they hate to do. As someone who was never too fond of exercising in the past, I have learned to find ways to stay motivated. For example, I enjoy doing Zumba or dance workouts that are fun and don’t feel like I’m exercising. I also do toning workouts throughout the week for my upper and lower body which I dedicate all to youtube.
So I would suggest that if you don’t like going to the gym, find workout routines on youtube. You will be surprised by how many things you can find. So whether you enjoy doing Zumba, yoga, or pilates, you can find something that you will enjoy doing. Or even if you want to start small, maybe try to walk more and than gradually move on to other workouts.
In conclusion
Last but not least I will say enjoy the process as you see your body change and get into the best shape of your life. Try not to weigh yourself every day, or have a high expectation of how many pounds you have to lose in a certain amount of time. Know that it is an adjustment for your body and things do take time. That weight loss does not happen overnight and patience is key. Remember to live your life to the fullest and always stay positive. And always know that if you are doing want you need to do, you will see results in no time!

I struggle with the workout routine but will definitely take these steps and put them to action. Thank you for making this process not seem over complicated.
I need to find an exercise routine that I like. That’s my main problem lol
Great Post. I love the fact that you say it’s not a diet it’s a lifestyle change. This is what I preach all the time to my girls. My Eldest daughter is a Dancer and this just reaffirms what I say to her and that others are doing it.
